Now it really is winter here in Germany. With temperatures well below -10° C there can be no doubt. At least it is nice and sunny and I went out for a walk today. When taking a few photos, I thought my fingers would fall off, but you can hardly handle a small camera wearing gloves, can you?
This year’s good news so far is that my best friend Rob found himself a girlfriend and I got more time for myself because I won’t have to spend all weekends with him. In a way it is strange though because I got used to spend almost all my spare time with him during the last 6 months or so and already miss his company. Anyway, I’m quite happy for him as she is pretty nice and hopefully doing him good. And of course it is nice to see him happy even though going out with them two always makes me feel like playing gooseberry. ![]()
Guess I need a boyfriend myself. I could have had one to be honest, but even though he seemed to be quite nice he was too old and too fat. I’m quite large myself but can’t stand men that are bigger than me. I mean I like them to be a little taller but no bigger. ![]()
I really wouldn’t mind a boyfriend but I’m not as desperate as to take just anybody. And even though Mr. Right certainly is hard to find, I keep looking for him. Being on your own isn’t all that bad either as you can at least do what you like. But I wouldn’t mind someone loving and caring from time to time. Someone to share the good and bad things in life with. Someone who makes me laugh.
Anyway, I got no reason to complain really as I got quite a few friends that are always there for me if I need them. And who knows, with the new haircut I got, my chances of finding someone nice aren’t all that bad.

Happy New Year everybody! I got a feeling that this year will not be one of the worst I’ve ever had. I’m quite lucky I think, as I got great friends that I really love. Especially my good friend Rob is someone who always makes me laugh and accepts me the way I am. I sometimes wonder why he puts up with me but I think it got something to do with the time we first met and the fact that he understands where I’m coming from.
He might be one of the strangest guys I’ve ever met but also one of the nicest. I hope he will be really successful in everything he’s doing, as he has now found the place where he wants to be and feels at home. I’d love to see him happy! Maybe he even finds a nice girlfriend who really loves him. He got so much to give.
This year I think is the first without any New Year’s resolutions from my side and I think that is a great way to start the year. All I need is a job to earn my living, good health (for me and my friends, especially one dear friend over there in England who needs a new kidney) my friends and the chance to take many more photos. So who needs New Year’s resolutions anyway?

Last week my dear friend Les Hilton and I worked together on the new fresh look of the Chonkinfeckle homepage. You can see here what we came up with.
And if you happen to live somewhere near Wigan, Lancashire or get the chance to come to the Ukulele Festival in Cheltenham in June you will certainly be able to hear Chonkinfeckle live. And you can of course always book them. I simply love their tunes and the lyrics not only make you smile but also give you something to think about.
On Friday I so lucky as to win a pair of Chung Shi Dux shoes. I love those plastic clogs as they are pretty comfortable especially if you have problems with your feet or heels. Perfect for people with heel spurs. Check out the homepage if you want to find out more about these comfy shoes.
This pair I will give to a good friend though as I got several pairs myself already.
On Sunday I was lucky again and won a t-shirt in the Advent Calendar competition being held by Oggy on his blog tagestexte.de. Until Christmas Eve you can win something there every day.
Last week Sunday I was out to play bowling with my friend Rob and we’ve been to the Tollwood Christmas market Rob also spoiled me with a Christmassy turkey dinner that evening.
On Saturday I got my first Christmas present from a friend, she paid for the visit at the hairdresser’s. The right present for a women, isn’t it.
Yesterday we’ve been playing bowling again, have been to a medieval Christmas market here in Munich and met some old friends in a pub. I really enjoy going out with a friend at the weekends because it is so much more fun than going out on your own. And my friend Rob is good company as he always makes me laugh.

Again a great competition and as it will be Christmas soon you can win an Advent calendar.
On Hauke’s blog, Tagestexte.de you got time till November 20th at 4:55pm to participate in the competition. You can leave a comment, write an article in your own blog or participate via Facebook or Twitter.
The Advent calendar worth 95 Euro should be worth the effort even though I hope not too many people participate as I of course hope to win myself.
A smashing idea to get a few more Christmassy gifts this year, so thanks a lot Hauke for holding this competition.

A great new video by A D Cooke, a singer and songwriter from the Northwest of England. Really worth a listen. The harmonica player is my dear friend Les Hilton.

The latest Chonkinfeckle video again is worth a listen and about a subject many people can relate to…

When my dear friend Rob asked me whether I wanted to go to England with him for a week, I didn’t really have to think about it as it was more than 20 years that I had been to England. And I was pretty lucky to get the week off from work too.
We hired a little Peugeot 107, a small car for sure but big enough for the two of us and the beer Rob wanted to take over for his friends. We left early on a Sunday morning and got on the ferry in Dunkirk at 2pm. In England we only had to go to Gravesend, Kent that very day, and got there in the late afternoon. We spent Monday in Gravesend and drove to Ramsgate on Tuesday morning as it was Rob’s friend’s 50th birthday. I guess he won’t forget his birthday that easily as it was a surprise visit.
Some friends in the north of England told me to bring a brolly but I said I’d rather bring the sun. And the weather was brilliant most of the time. We only got some rain on Saturday, our last day.
It was great to be in England again as I love the country and the people. As a teenager I used to spend 3 weeks of my summer holidays in England every year and really loved it.
And going with a friend and meeting new friends was great too of course, but at times I just went for walks on my own down on the beach or in town as I wanted to take photos and explore the place. Ramsgate has a beautiful little harbour. We’ve also been to Margate, Herne Bay, Sandwich, and of course Canterbury. I haven’t been in the cathedral though as they nowadays charge you £9 to get in. A rip off. And as I’ve seen it before about 30 years back, I went for a little walk instead.
Before going back to Munich we also did some shopping as we wanted a few things you either don’t get in Germany or that are more expensive over here. Some of my favourites are salt’n’vinegar crisps, Maltesers and Oxo cubes. At Tesco’s I also bought a slow cooker for only £10. I also bought some cook books, not only for the slow cooker
and some other books. And I did a lot of shopping for a friend who had given me a long shopping list before we left.
We got back Sunday night and it took quite a while to unload the car. I had to do it on my own as I had dropped off Rob at his place before. We both needed a night on our own after a long tiring trip. And I had to go back to work the next day too.
I really enjoyed the trip and hope it won’t take another 20 years before I go back to England for a holiday.
You can see more of the photos I took on O’er Yonder Photos.

Last weekend, a long one again due to a bank holiday here in Bavaria, Germany, my good friend Rob and I went to Switzerland to see his kids.
First we went to Flumserberg above Walensee and got up the mountain by ski lift. The view you get from up there was just breathtaking.
We had a great day up there accompanied by a Saarloos Wolf Dog, one of the most beautiful dogs I’ve ever seen.
In the evening we put up our tent in Rüti and had a little barbecue in the garden.
The next day we went for a walk in Stäfa at Lake Zurich and later had another barbecue in the garden. The night in the tent was great as it was pouring down with rain during several thunderstorms we had. At least the tent was waterproof and it wasn’t windy. We really enjoyed the sound of the rain and thunder and had a pretty good sleep. And even though some people might think we are too old to go camping, it was great fun.
Yesterday we had to head back to Munich again as we both have to work today. We went to Sankt Gallen on a small mountain road. A nice trip really. From Sankt Gallen you get a great view of Lake Constance. We got back to Munich in the evening and I must admit I was really knackered.
We had a great time and I met some really nice people and Rob did a good job driving all the time as I couldn’t be bothered driving a right-hand-drive car on German or Swiss roads. I mean he would only have complained about my driving anyway, wouldn’t he?

A long weekend again as I got the Friday off due to my friend Rob’s birthday. I started the weekend doing my taxes. Thanks God it was only a matter of filling in the forms and printing out some stuff.
The next was posting the whole lot and doing my grocery shopping. The afternoon I spent washing, hoovering and doing a few other things.

Later in the evening I met Rob to play pool. It was great fun even though I’m far from being a good pool player. But with a little help and advice from Rob I’m getting better. But as Rob had to work the next day we didn’t stay out too long.
On Saturday I got the chance of watching Rob doing his upholstery. It was amazing to see how these things are done and how skilled Rob is. I mean I always knew he was a good upholsterer but to see him work is just great.
So if anybody in or around Munich, Germany is in need of a good upholsterer, feel free to get in touch via the contact form of this site.
After his work we went for a coffee and to do some grocery shopping. Right in front of the shop we saw how a little boy almost got killed by a car. Luckily he was only hit by the wing mirror and not too badly injured. Rob took care of the boy till the ambulance arrived as he was all alone with no parents around anywhere. How can anybody leave such a little kid alone on a big, busy street???
Back home I was spoiled with a good meal cooked by Rob. Thanks for that my friend!
On Sunday I did some work at the computer and relaxed a little. Before work on Monday I met Rob again before he was leaving for England early the next day. I hope he’s having fun and look forward to seeing him again next week.
As I had some errands to run I was in the city centre before work on Tuesday and able to take a few more photos that you can see on O’er Yonder Photos.
